Never in a million years, I thought I was going to start up my own business revolving around NEW solar technology in good ol' Hampton Roads, Virginia. Aesop Technologies has been around for one year and it is still thriving. However, one of things that I tend to surprise myself with is the amount of knowledge that I'm gaining. I'm always learning something new for my business, whether it's from YouTube, news articles, or just by talking to someone. From that point, a spark is created in my brain for the desire to want to know more. Self education is probably by far the best education one could ever receive. If you're determined enough to know more about it, you're going to force yourself to learn it.
People like, Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, Bob Dylan, George Westinghouse, Washington Irving, and many, many more are classified as autodidacts (someone who is partially or wholly self educated). Check out the list here: http://www.autodidactic.com/profiles/profiles.htm.
Don't get me wrong the traditional school systems provides the foundation of learning, such as reading, writing, and arithmetic, but as an entrepreneur you must have the desire for wanting to learn more about your passion. You can't be afraid to go off the beaten path and create something that no one else has created before. I can say that everything that I know about Aesop and everything I built for Aesop is all self taught and that, my friend, is the best feeling in the world.
Peace up, Deuces down!
